Frank Docherty RSW
THE COMEDY OF LIFE
Saturday 1st April 2017 to Sunday 9th April 2017 from 11.00am to 5.00pm daily.
Frank Docherty (b.1942) trained at GSA from 1960-1964.
He gained his RSW in 1978.
The gallery is very privileged to represent Frank Docherty RSW in Scotland and to welcome him for his first Solo Show in Scotland, since he left for France almost a decade ago.
In the context of contemporary Scottish Art, these are very special paintings suited to a mature art taste, where the appreciation is in the narrative form rather than the decorative.
Importantly, Docherty is a rebel of his age. A strong, charismatic artist who is not scared to express himself and have a light poke at life's comedies and tragedies.
It is no surprise that one of his best friends in Monfort Sur Argens (where his studio is) in the South of France is Eric Idle of Monty Python fame.
Powerful, quirky paintings and a highly collectable contemporary artist for the buyers who understand art and art history.
