NEW RUTH CORBETT
Ruth (b.1964) studied at Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee (1983-87).
"For me there is a quietness about Still Life painting, a momentary respite from the here and now, a pause where I can immerse myself into the world within a fig or the shell of a chestnut, noticing the textures, light and shadows, carefully observing to the point where I start to reflect on the personal significance of the objects that I am painting. There are stories to be told by the individual marks and shapes of the objects".
PAM CARTER DA
NEW EMILY MACDUFF
Emily Macduff (b.1995) wanted to learn how to paint and shunned the conceptually-focused Scottish Art schools in order to train (classically) at the Florence Academy of Art (2014-17).
The guiding principles of the FAA are "to provide the highest level of instruction in classical methids of drawing, painting and sculpture for students wishing to pursue careers as professional artists in the Realist tradition."
